This is a full-time Bookkeeping Position with flexible scheduling available.

Position Summary

Graham Mathew Professional Corporation is seeking a highly motivated full-time bookkeeper who is looking for growth in their career. If you have experience working directly with clients on complex bookkeeping engagements we want to meet you!

How you will spend your time

You will be expected to meet with clients, assist clients with the set-up of their books, and provide software training. Meetings can be online or in person depending on the client and their preferences. You will also work with internal GMPC staff and accounting professionals to ensure bookkeeping meets the needs of tax and compliance.

Who you are

Our ideal candidate demonstrates the following characteristics:

 

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in full cycle bookkeeping including posting Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll and has experience preparing and analyzing financial statements

  • Tech savvy with the ability to design new processes and workflows for our clients

  • A familiarity with and experience using most standard bookkeeping programs including Quickbooks Desktop, Quickbooks Online, Sage 50, Receipt Bank, Auto-Entry, Hubdoc and other cloud accounting tools (Certifications are an asset)

  • A focus on building meaningful relationships with both clients and GMP team members

  • A proven ability to identify issues and problem solve to confidently advise our clients on sales tax, payroll and complex transactions

  • Carries a high standard of integrity with exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Comfortable communicating with both new and experienced business owners

Accounting Manager

Requirements:

  • A CPA, CA with three or more years of post-designation public accounting experience.

  • A strong understanding of audit planning and the CPA Handbook.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with owner-managed businesses and the not-for-profit sector.

  • Proficiency in CaseWare, CCH iFirm/Taxprep/Profile and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage client assurance engagements and provide timely, value-added advice.

  • Review and prepare working papers, year end financial statements and corporate tax returns for large corporate groups, in accordance with firm standards, for owner-managed and not-for-profit clients in a wide variety of industries, both independently and in a team environment.

  • Prepare personal tax returns and estate tax returns.

Manager/Senior Manager, Private Client Tax

This is a full-time position that generally involves:

  • Developing and implementing tax efficient strategies for:

    • Incorporation of a business;

    • Re-organization of a business (including integration with trusts);

    • Purchase / Sale Transactions;

    • Estate planning; and

    • Shareholder remuneration planning

  • Reviewing work for completeness and accuracy (personal, corporate, trust, partnership)

  • Servicing the planning and compliance needs of clients

  • Reviewing and supporting the preparation of various tax election forms

  • Supporting other team members with various income tax queries

  • Developing billing proposals, managing ongoing work-in-progress, and generating client billings

  • Co-ordinating advice with advisors from other jurisdictions​

 

Requirements:

  • A CPA, CA or CPA with three or more years specializing in tax in a public accounting firm

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Completed, or working towards completing CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax program

  • Emphasis on quality of work

  • Openness to learning new skills and utilization of new tools

  • Values teamwork

  • GST / HST knowledge / experience

  • Experience using various tax research platforms such as Knotia, CTF Taxfind, TaxnetPro, VideoTax News, Blue J Tax
